Hostname is what we call the body where the spirit of our MATRIX lives. I choose jeffrey-NB in which NB stands for NoteBook~:-)
It's in /etc/rc.conf file. The initial setup OS has got little fancy editors so we stick to vi for now which is capable enough for simple tasks like this.
First, back up it.
sudo cp /etc/rc.conf /etc/rc.conf.bak
Second, edit it.
sudo vi /etc/rc.conf
Find something like around near line 47:
HOSTNAME="myhost"
That's the very place we replace with our hostname, just as the words say.
Note that our change will not take place immediately, but until next reboot.
Last but not least, back up it again.
sudo cp /etc/rc.conf /etc/rc.conf.cur
